Vivian Lam, M.S., CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist nationally certified with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, She is also Washington State Board certified. Ms. Lam brings over twenty years of diverse experience in the field of speech-language pathology and auditory-oral rehabilitation in Honolulu, Hong Kong, Fort St. John and Vancouver, British Columbia, and Seattle. Ms. Lam spent most of her childhood in Hong Kong, growing up in a bicultural and multi-lingual family. Vivian’s interaction with people of numerous ethnic backgrounds, ages and walks of life and her diverse clinical experience enable her to be a highly effective, personable and qualified professional.

Vivian’s clinical experiences include working with business executives and physicians in foreign accent reduction, psycholinguistics and multi-cultural issues; public speaking, voice therapy, early intervention (birth to three years), pediatric speech-language and learning disorders, aural-oral habilitation and rehabilitation for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, and neurological communication disorders resulting from traumatic brain injuries, strokes and degenerative disorders. Ms. Lam has also conducted numerous bilingual speech-language evaluations and is skilled in identifying differences between language disorders versus English as a Second Language difficulties.

While working in Vancouver, British Columbia, she regularly consulted with her English-speaking colleagues regarding language and cultural differences in the recently immigrated Chinese, as well as developing practice therapy materials specific to that population. In addition, Vivian has participated in research and served as a clinical instructor at the University of British Columbia for 10 years. She has given public workshops including speech-language development of newborns and toddlers at post-natal classes for parents, workshops on early identification to public health nurses, teachers, daycare providers and infant development consultants, and seminars on speech, language, cognition and swallowing to nurses and caregivers in hospitals and extended care facilities. She has owned and operated Elocution Seattle for nearly 10 years.

Aside from the serious stuff, Vivian has a passion in cooking ethnic foods and making French pastries. She also loves traveling, going to plays and concerts, shopping and vegging. She keeps telling herself that exercise is good for the humankind and she should do more of it.
